SESAM (Semiconductor Saturable Absorber Mirror) mode-locked ultrafast pulsed lasers represent an important breakthrough in the development of mode-locked lasers. A key challenge addressed by this technology is extending SESAM capabilities into the mid-infrared (MIR) region.

We propose a design based on InAs/GaSb superlattice SESAM, which achieves over 99% reflectivity, 10%~15% modulation depth, and 1.4ps-720ps flexibility in the wavelength range of 2800nm-5000nm.

This innovation marks the first time worldwide that 3-5μm ultrafast fiber laser realization has been achieved. Its ultra-wide operating bandwidth and flexible parameter design meet requirements for various laser types, including fluoride fiber lasers, crystal lasers, and 3-5μm spectral range semiconductor lasers.
