THE MODEL SETR 0301 U DIFFERENTIAL TEMPERATURE CONTROL PROVIDES FOR THE AUTOMATIC, SAGE AND RELIABLE OPERATION OF DOMESTIC SOLAR WATER HEATING SYSTEMS. The CONTROL OUTPUT IS WIRED TO A PUMP THAT CIRCULATES THE HEAT TRANSFER FLUID BETWEEN THE SOLAR THERMAL COLLECTORS AND THE STORRAGE TANK DURING THE COURSE OF THE DAY. THIS MICROPROCESSO-BASED CONTROL UTILIZES TWO RTD TYPE SENSORS TO MONITOR COLLECTOR AND TANK TEMPERATURES WITH DIGITAL ACCURACY.

THE LCD GIVES THE HOMOWNER A VIARIEY OF REAL TIME INFORMATION INCLUDING SYSTEM TEMPERATURES AT UP TO THREE SEPARATE LOCATIONS. THE CONSISTENT USE OF SIMPLE PICTOGRAMS ENSURES EASE OF OPERATION AND TROUBLESHOOTING.

IN ADDITION TO THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF TURNING THE CIRCULATING PUMP ON AND OFF DURING THE DAY, THE SETR 0301 U PROVIDES IMPORTANT DIAGNOSTIC AND SAFETLY FUNCTIONS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE LCD PICTOGRAMS WILL INDICATE FAULT CONDITIONS SUCH AS SENSOR SHORTS OR PUMP FAILUTE. THE INSTALLATION MANUAL ALSO CLEARLY DESCRIVES THE FAULT SYMPTOMS, POSSIBLE CAUSES AND REMEDIES.

THE CONTROL FEATURES A TOTAL OF THREE INPPUTS AND ONE 120 VAC OUTPUT FOR THE CIRCULATING PUMP. VARISTORS PROTECT THE SENSOR INPUTS AGAINST HIGH VOLTAGE SPPIKES. THE LOAD SIDE IS FUSE PROTECTED.

THE CONTROL PACKAGE INCLUES TWO RTD TYPE (RESISTANCE TEMPERATURE DETECTOR) SENSORS, A SEVEN FOOT LINE CORD AND A SPARE FUSE. AN OPTIONAL THIRD SENSOR DISPLAYS THE UPPER TANK TEMERATURE AND ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR AN ANALOG THERMOMETER AND FITTINGS.

THE NUMEROUS ADDITIONAL FEATURES OF THE SETR 0301 U INCLUDE AN ADJUSTABLE ON/OFF DIFFERENTIAL (8 - 20 DEGREES F) AND HIGH LIMIT (32 DEGREES F - 205 DEGREES F), AN EVACUATED TUBE COLLECTOR FUNCTION, VACATION OVERHEAT PROTECTION TO MINIMIZE COLLECTOR STAGNATION, AND A FREEZ-RECIRCULATION OPTION. The GoldLine GL-30 differential temperature control is designed to provide maximum operating efficiency and flexibility to effectively manage today's innovative solar energy systems. The GL -30 represents a continuation of the advanced electronic technology which produced the popular C-30 and CM-30 controllers-standards of the solar industry since 1975, with hundreds of thousands of units installed worldwide. The GL -30 is capable of handling most differential temperature control functions for operation of domestic water heating and sophisticated space heating and cooling. The GL-30 was designed to control recirculation, drain-back, and closed loop systems.

Ease of installation, operation, and serviceability
Like all GoldLine controls, the GL-30 is designed to meet the need for easy installation, operation, and serviceability. The GL-30 features the same quality solid state construction that has made the GoldLine name synonymous with reliability and performance. The GL-30 offers advanced operating features to provide differential temperature control, storage high limit, and recirculation freeze protection for maximizing the operating efficiency of solar energy systems.

LED INDICATORS show system operation. Three highly visible LED's show; 1) power to control, 2) power out from controller to pump or fan, 3) power out from controller due to a recirculation mode to protect system from freeze damage."

GL-30 OUTPUT rating is 20 AMPs and is designed to directly operate a pump or fan for heat collection when the controller is sensing an appropriate temperature differential. When output is ON, the middle LED is illuminated.

ADJUSTABLE ON DIFFERENTIAL within the range of 8° to 24°F. Solar systems with long pipe runs normally require a higher turn-on differential temperature, and open loop systems with short pipe runs usually require a lower turn-on differential temperature for optimum performance. The GL -30 offers versatility to tailor controls to numerous specific system designs.

STORAGE HIGH LIMIT is field adjustable over the 110-230°F range. This offers flexibility in protection of most storage vessels. RECIRCULATION FREEZE PROTECTION * turns the GL-30 output ON to circulate warmer storage water through the collectors when near freezing temperatures are reached at the collector sensor. The right LED indicates output ON due to this condition. SYSTEM TEST SWITCH manually switches the GL-30 to ON, AUTO, or OFF.

All Independent Energy temperature sensors are 10K thermistors which are accurate to +/- 1/2° F. The sensors are double-dip potted in silicone for maximum protection from moisture.
